Anthony Wayne advances to take on Springfield in the sectional finals at Bowling Green Tuesday at 5 p.m. Anthony Wayne pitcher Emily Kurfis kept the Trojans (11-13) off balance and allowed just 4 hits with 5 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. Maggie Gilliland (6-10) was saddled with the loss for the Trojans. She allowed 7 runs, 2 earned, on 9 hits with 9 strikeouts. Ashton Estep stroked an RBI single while Gilliland, Rachel Hernandez and Katie Miller added singles for Findlay. At Deshler Park DESHLER -- Jayma George hit a 3-run double in the top of the sixth inning to help upstart Pandora-Gilboa to a 4-2 victory over Leipsic in Division IV sectional semifinal play Saturday. In the second game, Danielle Schroeder recorded her fourth win as Miller City defeated McComb 3-1. Pandora-Gilboa (2-20) will meet Patrick Henry (15-7) Monday and Miller City (8-8) will play Van Buren (11-8) Tuesday. Both games will be held at 6 p.m. at Deshler Park. Pandora-Gilboa's Jessica Watkins hit 2 singles. Anea Escamilla had a double and single for Leipsic and Chelsea Gerten hit 2 singles. Marci Wenzinger hit a double for Miller City. In the first game, Ashleigh Hays hit 2 singles as Ada defeated Upper Scioto Valley 4-1 in a Division IV semifinal. Ada (4-13) will meet Riverdale (10-7) at 5 p.m. Monday at Arlington Park Field No.5 and Arlington (13-8) will square off against the Ada/Riverdale winner at 5 p.m. May 20 at Arlington Park in a district semifinal. Arlington's Emily Sielschott clubbed a double against Ridgemont. Carrie Darnell, Amber Gast, Shaunie Rettig, Emilie Haley and Cristyn Scarbrough each hit 2 singles. Ada held USV to one run in the second inning while the Bulldogs scored all their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Redskins (12-9) scored a pair of 2-out runs in the first inning and recorded a game-ending double play to knock off Carey 2-1 in a Division IV sectional semifinal softball game at New Riegel Saturday. Arcadia's win over the Blue Devils (14-7) came less than 24 hours after it knocked off Van Buren keeping the Black Knights from a share of the Blanchard Valley Conference title. The Redskins will take on New Riegel (15-7) Wednesday at 5 p.m. for a sectional title. Rachelle Palmer got things going for Arcadia in the first inning with a 1-out single. Angie Clemons followed with an RBI double. Katie Boes ripped a single on a full count pitch to score pinch runner Alyssa Below with the second run. Carey's Megan Nalle smashed a triple to start the top of the seventh with the Redskins clinging to a 2-1 lead. After Arcadia pitcher Katie Boes (12-5) fanned the next batter, the Redskins' Hannah Barger caught a liner for the second out and gunned down Harley at the plate to complete a double play and end the game. Boes allowed just 2 hits, both to Nalle, while striking out 5 in 7 innings. Autumn Harley yielded just 2 runs on 7 hits with no walks and 5 strikeouts for Carey. At Elmwood BLOOMDALE -- Liberty-Benton's Abby Dean put together a strong performance on the mound to pitch the Eagles past Ottawa-Glandorf 4-1 in a Division III sectional semifinal game at Elmwood Saturday. Gibsonburg made the most of its 2 hits to sneak past Bluffton 2-1 in the other semifinal game. The Eagles (8-10) advance to take on top-seeded Elmwood (19-1) Thursday at 5 p.m. for a sectional title. The Golden Bears (14-7) face Suburban Lakes League rival Otsego (12-9) in the other sectional final which will be played Tuesday at 5 p.m. Dean allowed just 2 hits in 7 innings while striking out 6 to get the victory. Tabbie Tousley suffered the loss for the Titans as she allowed 3 runs on 2 hits with 5 walks and 7 strikeouts in 3 innings. Liberty-Benton's Jerica Carpenter had a pair of singles. The Patriots banged out 13 hits in the first game when they erupted for 12 runs in the second inning and 12 hits in the second game.
