Swimming: FAST members compete at Central Zone meet

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Patrick Dillon and Brady Ireland, both members of the Findlay Area Swim Team, helped Ohio's 10-under boys finish 1-2 in the 200-meter freestyle relay during the 2012 Central Zone championships held at Donner Park Pool in Columbus, Ind. over the weekend.

Dillon swam the third leg of the Ohio team that won the 10-under 200 free relay with a time of 2:02.89. Ireland swam the second leg of the runner-up team that finished in 2:04.01.

Ohio and Team Indiana battled back and forth throughout the weekend. Indiana slipped into first place with five events left and held on to edge Team Ohio 3,7711/2 to 3,692. A team representing the Ozarks was a distant third (2,526) in the eight-team meet, which included swimmers representing Arkansas, Lake Erie, Midwestern, Missouri Valley and Oklahoma.

Dillon also placed third in the 100-meter butterfly (1:15.83), fourth in the 100 (1:07.70) and 200 (2:27.95) free and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:33.55).

In addition to his runner-up showing in the 200 free relay, Ireland was ninth in the 50 free (31.42) and tenth in the 100 free (1:09.19).

Dillon and Ireland were to represent Ohio in the 10-under boys 200 medley relay, Results of that event, however, were unavailable.

Tucker Stocker and Justin Hopkins represented FAST well as members of Ohio's 13-14 contingent.

Stocker led off and Hopkins swam the third leg on Ohio's third-place 400 free relay team (3:53.06). Stocker was eighth in the 200 free (2:07.44) and also swam a leg on three other top-ten relays, the fourth-place 200 free (1:45.49), the seventh-place 400 medley (4:26.99) and the eighth-place 200 medley (2:00.13).

Hopkins was tenth in the 200 (2:04.04) and 400 (4:25.33) freestyles.

Klava Katayama (girls, 10-under), Sarah Clinger and Kaylor Stocker (girls 11-12), Aleah Hixenbaugh (girls 13-14)and Parker Stocker (boys 10-under) also represented FAST in the zone meet. Hixenbaugh made the "B" finals in two events, the 200 breaststroke (15th, 2:57.04) and the 1,500 (16th, 19:20.22).
