Girls Basketball: New Riegel blitzes McComb, 54-43
NEW RIEGEL -- McComb's girls basketball team had New Riegel on the ropes Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Jackets, though, had other ideas.

New Riegel blitzed McComb 28-10 in the fourth quarter to rally past the Panthers 54-43 in a nonconference game.

McComb (3-1), which outrebounded New Riegel 35-21, led by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter before the Blue Jackets stormed back and won for the fifth time in six games.

Taylor Arbogast tossed in 20 points and picked off eight rebounds for New Riegel. Kara Scherger added 15 points for the Blue Jackets.

Briana Herr had a double-double for McComb with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Emily Clymer netted 16 points for the Panthers, who commited 16 of their 26 turnovers in the second half.

OTTOVILLE -- Abby Siefker scored a game-high 22 points and went over 1,000 for her career as Ottoville improved to 5-0 with a 72-31 blitzkrieg of Bluffton Saturday in girls nonleague basketball action.

Siefker, a 6-foot-2 senior post, was a second team All-Ohio pick last season and has signed with Bowling Green State University. She scored six points in the first, third and fourth quarters and was 6 of 6 from the free throw line.

Rachel Beining added 11 points for the Big Green (5-0), who have won 29 consecutive regular season games.

Paige Buroker and Alexis Lugibihl each scored six points for Bluffton (4-2), which was held to just six points in the first half and had its four-game winning streak snapped.

NORTH BALTIMORE -- Dani Heaster hustled over every inch of the court Saturday to compile 21 points, 12 rebounds, eight steals and six assists in the Red Devils' 55-49 nonconference girls basketball victory against North Baltimore.

Heaster's play was instrumental in leading Arlington to its fifth straight victory.

Jordyn Webb racked up 16 points and seven rebounds for the Red Devils, who won their 30th straight game.

Megan Wright led North Baltimore with 25 points and nine rebounds.

HOLGATE -- Haley Gerten scored 20 points as Leipsic came back from a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to defeat previously unbeaten Holgate 44-40 Saturday in girls nonconference action.

Amber Gerdeman added 11 points for the Vikings (2-2).

Connor Abel and Sarah Niese each scored 10 points for Holgate (4-1).

PANDORA-GILBOA 49

MILLER CITY 38

MILLER CITY -- Pandora-Gilboa won the turnover battle by a landslide against Miller City as the Rockets captured a 49-38 Putnam County League girls basketball victory on Saturday.

The Rockets forced the Wildcats (0-6, 0-1) into 26 turnovers while committing just 14.

Megan Maag led the Rockets with 15 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Hermiller drained two 3-pointers in her 14-point effort. Ashley Williams dished off four assists for Pandora-Gilboa, 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the PCL.

Melissa Michel totalled 17 points and 14 rebounds but was the only Miller City player with more than two field goals.

VANLUE -- Katie Thomas corralled 28 rebounds to aid Vanlue in a 36-22 victory over Maumee Valley Country Day on Saturday in nonconfernece girls basketball.

Thomas scored only four points, but had three steals and three assists in her effort.

Logan Frey led all scorers with 10 points, the only player to reach double figures.

GIBSONBURG -- Miranda Palmer scored more points than Gibsonburg as Arcadia got back on track with a 63-19 nonconference girls basketball victory Saturday.

Palmer made 10 field goals and finished with 20 points. She also had three assists and six steals as the Redskins improved to 3-2 and handed Gibsonburg (3-1) its first loss.

Courtney Cramer added 12 points for the Redskins, who forced the Golden Bears into 30 turnovers. Abbie Dauterman snared eight rebounds for Arcadia.

Amanda Shammo scored seven points to lead Gibsonburg (3-1).

DELPHOS -- Kalida dominated Delphos Jefferson 20-4 in the third quarter as the Wildcats prevailed 53-37 on Saturday in a nonconference girls basketball contest.

The Wildcats (4-1) led only 26-20 at halftime but used the next quarter to build a 22-point lead.

Kylie Osterhage led all scorers with 12 points while Amy Smith chipped in 10 for the Wildcats.

LIMA -- Britt Lauck and Abby Waddle combined for 46 points and Lima Shawnee beat Van Buren 80-56 Saturday in girls nonconference basketball action.

Kristen Tropf scores 17 points and Kaleigh Frampton had 15 points and seven rebounds for Van Buren (3-1).

Lauck led Shawnee (3-1) with 25 points. Waddle poured in 21 points for the Indians, who connected on 26 of 38 2-point attempts shots.

OTTAWA -- Ottawa-Glandorf rushed out to a 23-0 advantage by the end of the first quarter and the Titans triumphed over Fostoria 69-24 Saturday in nonconference girls basketball play.

Kialee Koch scored 12 points and had seven rebounds to lead Ottawa-Glandorf (3-1), which had 12 players score in the game.

Kristen Miller added 10 points, while Dani Ellerbrock contributed seven points and six assists. Michelle Maag dished out seven assists.

Erica Moore led Fostoria (0-5) with 10 points and four rebounds.
