Boys Basketball Roundup: Arlington perfect from three-point range in win over Bluffton
BLUFFTON -- Someone from Bluffton should have gotten a few more hands in Jordan Freed's face Saturday night.

Freed was deadly from beyond the arc as he was 8 for 8 from three-point range to finish with a game-high 24 points as Arlington remained unbeaten with a 52-33 win over the host Pirates in the Bluffton McDonald's Holiday Tournament.

Allen East, meanwhile, got its first win in thrilling fashion as the Mustangs topped Cory-Rawson 65-64 in overtime in the consolation game.

With his performance, Freed earned a spot on the all-tournament team along with teammate Blaiz McBride, who netted five points with five assists.

Arlington's Andrew Hunter, who scored eight points with four rebounds and three steals, was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Robbie Stratton knocked down eight points for Bluffton (3-5) against Arlington. The Pirates' Noah Stratton (7 points) and Michael Donley (6 points) joined the Arlington trio on the all-tournament team.

In the other game, Cory-Rawson (3-5) had a tough time containing Allen East's all-tournament selection Tanner Richardson. Richardson scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Mustangs. He scored six in overtime to secure the win.

Matt Shuey netted 10 points and Clay Plaugher added nine for Allen East (1-5).

Tyler Harris made the all-tournament team for Cory-Rawson as he netted 25 points with four assists and two steals.

Grant Risner had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Chad Shepler (11 points) and Maycen Ward (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Hornets.

Draeton Fasone led Van Buren (1-6) with 10 points. Ross Adolph had nine points and seven rebounds, while Ryan Adolph added eight points.

Eric Cellier led Toledo Christian (7-1) with 24 points.

MILLER CITY -- Tyson Bolenbaugh's double-double led Crestview to its seventh win in eight games as the Knights defeated Miller City 58-50 in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night.

Bolenbaugh scored a team high in points with 18 and rebounds with 10 for the Knights (7-1). Cam Etzler put a nice game together with nine points and led the team with three steals and four assists.

Adam Niese had 17 points for Miller City as well as grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Austin Lammers also had 11 points and three steals.

LEIPSIC -- Leipsic's solid start to the season continued Saturday night.

Devin Mangas and Zach Kuhlman outscored Pandora-Gilboa by themselves as the Vikings racked up a 67-35 Putnam County League boys basketball win over the Rockets.

Mangas popped in a game-high 21 points and Kuhlman added 17 to help Leipsic improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the PCL.

Aric Schroeder dished off six assists with five steals and Mitch Kuhlman grabbed seven rebounds for the Vikings.

Brian Schneck tossed in eight points and Jared Tousley added six for Pandora-Gilboa (2-6, 0-2).

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Derek Rieman led the way with 14 points Saturday as Columbus Grove got above the .500 mark with a 50-35 win over Jackson Center in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Will Vorhees and Jace Darbyshire each scored 12 points for the Bulldogs (4-3). Rieman had 11 rebounds, and Darbyshire had five assists and five rebounds.

Columbus Grove outscored Jackson Center (6-2) 10-0 in the second quarter to build a 26-15 lead at halftime.



OLD FORT 83

ARCADIA 40

ARCADIA -- A couple of strong finishes was all Old Fort needed as the Stockaders stayed unbeaten with an 83-40 nonconference boys basketball win over Arcadia on Saturday.

Old Fort (9-0) led just 14-13 at the end of the first quarter before stepping on the gas for a 25-6 margin in the second frame. They poured it on in the second half with a 44-21 edge over the Redskins (0-8).

Dalton Perry led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Perry chipped in 17 points with seven assists.

Casey Mock scored 15 points and Kevin Keefe Jr. grabbed 11 rebounds and dished three assists to lead Arcadia.

Ryan Lommerse led the Chieftains (6-3) with a game-high 20 points, including five 3-pointers and three steals. Alec Gregg had 15 points and three 3-pointers as well as leading the team with six assists.

Andrew Cantrell led the Golden Bears (2-6) with 14 points and also had help from Jordan Kreglow with 11 points.

UPPER SANDUSKY -- A first-quarter advantage was key for a 64-48 Upper Sandusky victory over Fostoria in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night.

The Rams (3-4) led by 10 after the first quarter and led the rest of the way by a close 47 to 41 margin.

Joe Reile was the leading scorer for the Rams with 31 points including a game-high five 3-pointers.

Domonique Fuller was the leading scorer for the Redmen (1-8) scoring 21 points including three 3-pointers.

MCCOMB -- Clay Grubb led three McComb players in double digits Saturday as the Panthers defeated Continental 66-37 in a nonleague boys basketball game.

McComb's Jerry Brown wasn't one of those Panthers with 10 points or more. But the senior scored nine points, had 11 rebounds and dished off 10 assists. Grubb scored 19 points, Dalton Buck had 13 points for McComb (3-5) and Clay Dysert added 10.

Chazz Slatman and Tyler Rue each scored eight points for Continental (4-4).

OTTOVILLE -- Luke Schimmoeller and the Ottoville Big Green spent the first three quarters warming up on Saturday.

Schimmoeller then scored eight of his game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter and Ottoville outscored Lincolnview 20-6 in the final frame as the Big Green won a nonleague boys basketball game 52-40.

Ottoville (4-6) hit 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to key the victory. Ryan Honigford had nine points, and Derek Schimmoeller and Brandt Landin each scored eight.

Kyle Williams had four 3-pointers and a team-best 14 points for Lincolnview (4-5).
