Emily Clymer scored 22 points for McComb (2-0, 1-0 BVC), which led 39-29 at halftime. Caelie Reed added 16 points that included five 3-pointers for the Panthers. Gerten finished with a game-high 28 points and eight rebounds to lead Leipsic. Amber Gerdeman added 19 points and matched Gerten with eight rebounds. Maddie Steffan chipped in 10 points for the Vikings. After chipping away at the McComb lead throughout the second half, Leipsic got the ball with 1 second remaining after a late miss by the Vikings went out of bounds off a McComb player setting up Gerten's last-second attempt. Both teams had no trouble finding the basket. Leipsic hit 48 percent (24 of 50) of its field goal tries, while McComb connected on 24 of 51 attempts (47.1 percent). The difference was from behind the 3-point line where McComb hit on 8 of 19 attempts, including a 25-footer by Alison Beverly as the first-half buzzer sounded. Leipsic was 3 of 8 from behind the arc. Molly Glick netted 15 points with six rebounds and Courtney Cramer chipped in 12 points to go along with eight steals. Haley Bonham and Kate Clymer both scored six points to lead Vanlue. Rebecca Kirian grabbed nine rebounds for Arcadia as the Redskins had a 34-32 edge over the Wildcats on the boards. Pandora-Gilboa (2-0) led just 14-12 after the first quarter before taking control with a 25-13 edge in the middle quarters. Megan Maag scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead a trio of Pandora-Gilboa players in double figures. Hunter Hermiller and Ashley Williams both chipped in 11 points for the Rockets. Williams also dished out eight assists. Kendra Tuttle popped in 14 points and Nicole Hulihan and Megan Ritter both grabbed seven rebounds for the Hornets (0-4). VAN BUREN 55 HARDIN NORTHERN 37 DOLA -- Kaleigh Frampton and Morgan Flick had big nights and Van Buren dominated the second half in a 55-37 Blanchard Valley Conference victory over Hardin Northern Thursday night in each team's conference opener. Frampton and Flick each made seven shots from the field and scored 17 and 16 points respectively for the Black Knights (2-0, 1-0 BVC). Paige Sudlow added nine points for Van Buren, which outrebounded the Polar Bears 34-15. Kristen Tropf and Madi Endicott each dished out four assists. Kylee Hooker had a stellar offensive evening for Hardin Northern with 20 points. The Polar Bears' junior varsity games with Powell Village Academy that were supposed to be played Saturday have been cancelled.
