Girls basketball: Findlay trips Toledo Central Catholic
TOLEDO -- The Findlay girls basketball team shot a solid percentage from the field and used a tough man-to-man defense to defeat Toledo Central Catholic 43-41 Thursday night in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Findlay (2-0, 1-0 TRAC), which got two late free throws from Zoe Swisher that helped ice the win, made up for several turnovers with stellar play defensively.

The Trojans, who have won both of their first two games by two points, held the Fighting Irish to 15 of 43 shooting and only 1 of 11 from behind the arc.

Findlay post players Christina McQueen and Taylor Stanfield each scored 13 points and were solid on the glass.

McQueen snared nine rebounds and Stanfield brought down seven.

Swisher added three assists for Findlay, which made 17 of 25 free throws and 6 of 6 in the second half.

Michelle Murnen led Toledo Central Catholic (0-1) with 20 points and six rebounds.
