Prep girls golf: Knights, Royals fall short of state berths
ARLINGTON -- Edison edged Defiance by one stroke and Huron by three to earn the third and final state-qualifying spot from the Division II girls district golf tournament held Monday at Arlington's Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

Sandusky Perkins easily advanced to the Division II state tournament, to be held Oct. 12-13 at Ohio State University, with a 337 team total. Lima Central Catholic was second (353), with Edison (369) edging Defiance (370) and Huron (372) for the final spot.

Van Buren was eighth (386) in the 15-team district and Elmwood 13th (427). Alexis Kelley and Ashley Overmyer carded 92s to lead Van Buren. Savannah Baker had a team-best 99 for Elmwood.

Individuals earning the three state-qualifying spots were Woodmore's Mikayla Baer (77), Coldwater's Kelsey Koesters (80) and Lakota's Makayla Dull (81). North Baltimore's Rachel Peters fired a 95 and Liberty-Benton's Kiera Robinson a 103.
