Prep volleyball: Trojans lock up second in TRAC

FREMONT -- Emma Schleucher hammered seven kills and Kayce Krucki and Allison Twining had six each Monday as Findlay High's volleyball team wrapped up Three Rivers Athletic Conference play with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-17 romp over Fremont Ross.

Findlay, ranked No. 5 in the Division I state volleyball coaches poll, finished second to No. 2-ranked Toledo St. Ursula in the TRAC standings for the second straight year. The Trojans, 16-2 overall and 6-1 in the league, and St. Ursula (16-1, 7-0) will be the two top-seeded teams when the first round of the TRAC tournament gets under way Thursday at Toledo Notre Dame.

Krucki was 15 for 18 spiking and 14 for 15 serving with nine digs. Schleucher was 14 for 18 spiking and led the Trojans with three blocks.

Twining (13-16 spiking, 11-11 serving) and Brittanne Burnside had six digs each. Abby Stine was 13 for 14 serving and had 17 assists and four digs, while Emily Lauth was 13 for 13 serving and had 10 assists and five digs.

Nicole Muehl was 10 for 10 spiking and Ciara Ralston 14 for 15 spiking with five kills and five digs.

Fremont Ross fell to 8-8 overall, 2-5 in the TRAC.

Findlay will prep for the TRAC tournament by hosting Norwalk St. Paul, Ohio's No. 1-ranked Division IV team, Wednesday at the FHS Gymnasium.

Briana Herr (5 blocks) and Becca Leppelmeier (3 aces) both added eight kills. Brenna Dee chipped in 24 assists and 10 points with three aces and Hannah Bundy added 29 digs for the Panthers (16-3 overall, 6-1 BVC).

Nicole Hulihan led the Hornets (11-6, 3-4) at the net with seven kills while Jordan Hector added eight blocks.

Tessa Heitmeyer had 12 digs and Kendra Tuttle dished out 20 assists.

VAN BUREN -- Megan Maag dominated at the net with 27 kills and five blocks Monday to lead Pandora-Gilboa to a 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 25-15 Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball win over Van Buren.

Hunter Hermiller and Mikaylie Morman both had five kills and Vivian Nofziger dished out 41 assists with six digs as the Rockets improved to 12-4 overall and 4-3 in the Blanchard Valley Conference.

Van Buren's Elyse Anderbery had 11 kills with three digs. Brianna Orchard had 17 assists and Paige Sudlow and Sarah Benson (8 kills) both added 10 digs for the Black Knights (4-12, 0-7).

Rachel Myers's 20 kills helped Liberty-Benton sweep Arlington 25-14, 26-24, 25-23 on Monday in girls Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball on the featured Volley For a Cure night.

While the action ended with two narrow sets favoring the Eagles (14-2, 7-0 BVC), the two teams combined to raise more than $4,000.

Back on the court, Myers also finished with eight assists while going 20 for 20 in spiking attempts.

Carrigan Gray had a team-high 16 assists, six digs and four kills.

Adrienne Shepard led Arlington (13-5,4-3) with 14 kills and seven blocks.

LEIPSIC -- Leipsic's volleyball team stayed in title contention in one league and prepped for a possible championship showdown in another by rolling to a 25-8, 25-14, 25-19 Blanchard Valley Conference win over Arcadia on Monday.

Leipsic, ranked 14th in the state in the latest Division IV coaches poll, improved to 14-2 overall, 6-1 in the BVC and remained tied with 17th-ranked McComb (16-3, 6-1) for second place in the BVC standings, a game back of Liberty-Benton (15-2, 7-0). The Panthers and Vikings square off next Monday at McComb.

Leipsic will be looking to enhance its chances for a Putnam County League championship on Thursday when the Vikings, 4-0 in the PCL, host Kalida (14-4, 3-0 PCL).

Haley Gerten hammered 17 kills and Kelly Nadler and Amber Gerdeman (5 blocks) had 11 each in Leipsic's win over Arcadia. Nadler also had three blocks and 24 digs.

Shalynn Morman was 38 for 39 serving with 16 points and 11 digs. Nikki Kreinbrink had 16 digs and Emily Ellerbrock had 38 assists.

Madison Stuby led Arcadia (13-5, 3-4 BVC) with seven kills. Molly Glick and Abbie Dauterman (5 blocks) added six kills each and Madie Ramsey was 54 for 54 setting with 15 assists.

London Crist had eight kills with two aces, Taylor Allen was 15 of 15 serving with four kills and two aces and Kylee Hooker was 18 of 18 serving with three aces, nine assists and five digs for the Polar Bears.

Kayla Cornette slammed four kills with five digs, Kelsie Ward had eight digs and Logan Frey added six assists for the Wildcats (3-12, 0-7).

MOUNT BLANCHARD -- Taylor Arbogast slammed 18 kills and Kara Scherger added 12 kills and 24 digs Monday with two aces as state-ranked New Riegel rolled to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-8 nonconference volleyball win over Riverdale.

Lauren Ladd recorded 11 kills and Cassandra Acree dished out 30 assists for the Blue Jackets (16-1), the ninth-ranked team in the latest Division IV state coaches poll.

Brittany Wetherill had four kills with four digs and Jordan York added four digs for the Falcons (5-14).

Julia Wynn racked up an impressive 20 kills for the Bulldogs who fall to 12-4 overall.

Kelly Vorst fought for 24 digs while Rachel Schumacher totaled 51 assists.

Siefker finished at 28-of-32 attacking while Annie Lindeman had 15 digs and Tonya Kaufman chipped in 10 assists for the Big Green (6-11).

ADA -- Ada improved to 11-8 on the season with a 25-18, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23 nonconference volleyball win over Upper Scioto Valley on Monday.

Taylor Willeke smashed 16 kills with 10 digs and three aces, Alexis Rhodes added nine kills with three blocks and Tori Wyss had eight kills with 13 digs and two aces to lead the Bulldogs.

Megan Simon and Gabby Linnon chipped in 20 and 12 digs respectively.
