Local Sports from The CourierWednesday, October 03, 2012Volleyball: Tourney field set at 2 sitesToledo St. Ursula and Findlay, the top-seeded teams by virtue of their 1-2 finish in the regular-season standings, will host first-round Three Rivers Athletic Conference volleyball tournament games on Thursday. Two quarterfinals matches will be played at Findlay High School and two at Toledo St. Ursula. At Findlay High, No.2 -seeded Findlay (17-2, 6-1 TRAC) will face No. 7 Toledo Whitmer (7-10, 1-6) at 7 p.m. In the 6 p.m. opener, third-seeded Toledo Notre Dame (13-6, 5-2) and No. 6 Fremont Ross (8-8, 2-5) will square off. In Toledo, No. 1 St. Ursula (17-1, 7-0) and No. 8 seed Lima Senior (4-14, 0-7) meet in the 6 p.m. quarterfinal with No. 4 Toledo Central Catholic (7-8, 4-3) and No. 5 Oregon Clay (7-8, 3-4) meeting in the second match. The rest of the winners bracket games will be played at the University of Findlay's Croy Center. On Monday, the two winners from the FHS quarterfinal will take the court at 6 p.m., with the winners at St. Ursula meeting at 7:30 p.m. The semifinal winners square off at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 11 for the tournament title. The losers of the semifinal games will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 11 to decide third and fourth place. Losers of first-round matches will play out the tournament bracket to determine fifth through eighth place in the final standings.
