Ashland Crestview is a bit of a surprise leader after the first day as the Cougars have a 323-326 margin over defending state champion Columbus Wellington School. Ottawa Hills (329) is fourth, Lima Central Catholic (335) sixth and Van Buren (337) seventh in the 12-team field. Van Buren's No. 3, 4 and 5 golfers led the way. Jason Sawyer is in a tie for 18th place with a 41-41--82. Erik Glass (43-40) and Tim Mutchler (41-42) are tied for 22nd with 83s. Brennon Swain is 52nd with a 44-45--89 and Sawyer Junge finished the day in 53rd place among the 64-player field with a 42-48--90. Defending state champ Andrew Bieber of Gates Mills Gilmour Academy and Grove City Christian's Cameron Michelak are tied for the individual lead at 73. The Division II boys and Division II girls state tournaments are being contested this weekend at Ohio State University. Dayton Oakwood has a 320-337 lead over Kettering Alter in the Division II boys at the OSU Scarlet Course. Eaton's Cameron Willis is the individual leader with a 75. Sandusky Perkins' Maddy Mullins fired a 72 to lead the Division II girls as the Pirates have a 348-350 lead over Williamsport Westfall in the team standings. All three state tournaments wrap up today.
