Local Sports from The CourierFriday, February 15, 2013Girls basketball: Trojans edge Lima SeniorLIMA -- Nicole Muehl had a big night as she led three Findlay High School players in double figures Thursday in a 72-62 Trojans' victory over Lima Senior in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference girls basketball game. Findlay improved to 17-4 overall and 11-2 in the TRAC, while Lima Senior closed out the regular season at 13-9 and 8-6. The Trojans will wrap up the regular season Saturday with a TRAC makeup game at Toledo St. Ursula. Muehl led the Trojans with 22 points. Christina McQueen tossed in 16 points, Taylor Stanfield 11 and Zoe Swisher dished out five assists. Lima Senior's Indiya Benjamin led all scorers with 26 points. Stacia Allen chipped in 12 points. BLUFFTON 46 DELPHOS JEFFERSON 42 DELPHOS -- Bluffton's girls basketball team finished the regular season with a win as the Pirates took down Delphos Jefferson 46-42 in a Northwest Conference girls basketball game Thursday night. Bluffton trailed Delphos Jefferson 33-30 heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Wildcats 16-9 in the fourth quarter to get the win. Paige Buroker scored 12 points and Sierra Amstutz netted 11 as Bluffton improved to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in the NWC. Delphos Jefferson's Rileigh Stockwell led all scorers with 19 points. Wyss led the Bulldogs (13-9, 7-2) with 17 points while Willeke dropped 12 points. CONTINENTAL 32 KALIDA 26 KALIDA -- Continental jumped out to a 10-2 lead over Kalida after one quarter and led 17-6 by the end of the first half as the Pirates held on for a 32-26 win over the Wildcats Thursday in the Putnam County League girls basketball finale for each team. Continental finished the regular season 15-7 and 4-3 in the PCL. Kalida (14-7, 4-3) had its three-game winning streak snapped. Taylor Williamson led Continental with a team-high 10 points. Leva Weller had eight points for the Pirates, who outrebounded Kalida 30-23. Jackie Gardner paced the Wildcats with eight points. WAYNESFIELD GOSHEN 68 CORY-RAWSON 51 WAYNESFIELD -- Cory-Rawson battled neck and neck with Waynesfield-Goshen in the first half of Thursday's season finale. But it was all Tigers in the second half as Waynesfield-Goshen pulled away for a 68-61 win in nonconference girls basketball. Kaylee Patton finished with 32 points and eight rebounds to lead the way for Waynesfield-Goshen (15-7). Kirsten Wilson added 12 points for the Tigers. The score was tied 17-17 after the first quarter and 28-28 at the break before the host Tigers began to pour it on. Kiley Scott hit four 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds for Cory-Rawson (8-14). Adrienne Erford added 10 points for the Hornets.
