Downtown Findlay has bounced back in a strong way since the 2007 flood, and a sizeable grant aims to keep the area headed in the right direction. The Findlay-Hancock County Alliance was given $85,000 from the Community Foundation this week to support downtown efforts. The money will allow the Alliance to establish a certified Main Street program, and hire a full-time employee to help coordinate efforts.

The grant will be administered over two years. The overall program is expected to cost the Alliance a little more than $247,000 over that time.

The Ohio Main Street Program works to help city's revitalize traditional commerce areas. It aims to develop cooperation between operations that play a role in downtown, improve the area's physical image, market the businesses, and develop new businesses to strengthen the community.
