Trial Of Former Kalida Volleyball Coach Continues

Thursday, February 28, 2013 - 5:10 AM

The trial of a former Kalida volleyball coach accused of sex crimes involving former players continues in Putnam County. The Putnam County Sentinel reports on the third day of the trial jurors heard from several witnesses in the case against Jeremy Stober. The prosecution wrapped up its arguments by calling the lead investigator to the stand. The defense argued that no one actually witnessed any of the alleged crimes, and called former players and assistant coaches to testify they never saw Stober act inappropriately.

A day earlier the prosecution called a string of witnesses that included two of the alleged victims in the case. One was a former volleyball player while another was not. They both said they began getting text messages from Stober that eventually turned sexual in nature. Stober is charged with gross sexual battery, sexual imposition, sexual battery, importuning and tampering with evidence.

Closing arguments are expected today.
