The thirty-day paid suspension of Hancock County Public Defender Michael Galose will stand pending results of an evaluation by the Public Defender Commission. Galose was placed on leave immediately following a January 28th meeting of the commission. Commission Chairman Roger Miller said a meeting will be held within a week at which time the commission will discuss results from the evaluation of Galose and his office according to the Courier. Miller again declined comment on what triggered the evaluation. Paul Maekask, an attorney in the public defender's office was named interim chief public defender.
