Monday, March 04, 2013 - 11:52 AM

An organizational planning meeting for city operations held by city council last week has come under fire for not being made public before it was held.  Today on WFIN Council President Jim Slough and Mayor Lydia Mihalik talked about the issue.  Slough says there was no deliberate intention to keep the public from attending the meeting and once it got going it was very productive... (Audio Below)

Slough added at the same time someone should have known there would have been an issue regarding Ohio sunshine law and put the word out that the meeting was taking place.

Mayor Lydia Mihalik, who was not a part of the meeting, says public notice should have been given; but because no decisions were made there's really no penalty for proceeding with the meeting... (Audio Below)

Both Mihalik and Slough say despite the controversy the meeting was good to have... (Audio Below)

Mihalik adds city council isn't the only group putting together a list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for Findlay... (Audio Below)

She added that the process is interesting because it means there can be very honest and frank discussions about city operations.
