Hancock County Public Defender Michael Galose, under suspension since January 28, has left his position. Members of the Public Defender Commission unanimously agreed to not extend a contract renewal to Galose and that Galose declined to seek an offer according to the Courier. The commission spent thirty minutes of the thirty five minute meeting in executive session.

Galose was suspended with pay during a January 28th assessment of his office for which Commission Chairman Roger Miller has declined to comment as to the reason. Galose joined the office in 1996 and was named chief public defender in 2000.
