An Ada man is in legal hot water after he left his baby daughter home alone to go to the bar. The Lima News reports Ada police were called to the home of Phillip Smeal around 1 a.m. Sunday after neighbors became concerned the 8-month-old may have been left alone. When officers arrived they found the door to the home slightly open. They announced their entry, and found the girl sleeping in her crib. Smeal was located downtown standing outside Jon and Toni's Lounge. He told officers he had 10 beers and five shots of alcohol. Smeal will have an initial court appearance Monday.

In the meantime the girl has been left in the custody of her mother. Hardin County Children Services is looking into the case.
