Ohio Educational Service Centers stand to take a hit under the most recent budget proposed by Governor John Kasich, and as you would imagine the ESC superintendents aren't real happy about it. Hancock County ESC Superintendent Larry Busdecker tells the Courier he hopes the large cuts "get corrected." In Hancock County the cuts would mean a loss of more than $984,000 in 2014 and 2015. Under the budget the money cut from the service centers would go to local school districts.
Busdecker says it wouldn't actually mean extra money for the districts though. He says if the cuts are made, the ESC would have to contract with the area schools and the additional money in their budgets would have to be set aside to pay for the ESC contract.
