Mihalik Talks About Budget, Fire Department LayoffsMonday, March 18, 2013 - 11:38 AM Many Findlay residents are asking what can be done to save the jobs of 20 firefighters slated to be laid off in May. Mayor Lydia Mihalik laid out two things that have to happen to change the plans while she was a guest on WFINat10 today... (Audio Below) Mihalik says the city is working with the sewer and police unions, and wants to have the same conversation with the fire union. Mihalik adds the windfall money people want to use to pay for the firefighters isn't even enough to put the city into the black at this point... (Audio Below) She says that if 90% of the revenue for the city had been kept in operations the budget would balance. As it stands 16% has been set aside for capital improvements this year.
