Candidates have been talking about it on the campaign trail, the President spoke about it in his State of the Union address -- a looming economic crisis fueled in large part by the mortgage crunch.  Statistics this week show foreclosures up 75% last year over the year before.  But with one percent of the nation's homeowners in trouble, are we forgetting about the 99% who aren't?  The National Taxpayer's Union has some serious reservations about the "economic stimulus" package now working its way through Congress.  Director of government affairs Kristina Rasmussen explains why

Whether it can be called a "crisis" or not, the fact that home foreclosures have nearly doubled in the past year is cause for serious concern -- especially with states such as Ohio and Michigan at or near the top of the list.  Some have proposed a moratorium on foreclosures, an interest rate freeze or raising the cap on loans that can be backed by federal agencies such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  NYU business economist and Global Goals Institute founder Jeremy Wiesen has a different idea -- the cure for the housing crisis and economy, without government bailouts, that no one is talking about
